Mail Art Call
Is there a place, a memory, or an inner space where you truly feel at home?

We warmly invite you to take part in "Home is where my heart is", a Mail Art project created within the "Primavera" residential community. Our goal is to bridge distances, break down prejudices, and build a bridge made of art, care, and shared perspectives between the "inside" and the "outside."

The Theme

"Home" can be a physical place or a territory of the soul: your childhood home, a childhood bedroom, grandparents' kitchen, a special corner where you once lived, or a space where you left a piece of yourself. It can be a physical location, but also a face, a memory, a feeling, or a deep bond.

We invite you to depict whatever embodies this sentiment for you: a detail, a beloved room, a symbol, or an emotion that makes you say, "Here, I am truly home."

Techniques and Creative Freedom

Free choice of artistic languages and mediums: collage, drawing, painting, photography, visual poetry, textile art, or combinations of graphic design and writing. The only requirement is that it fits the classic postcard format.

The Dialogue

This is not a one-way journey. The artworks received will become the vital spark of our community: the residents will not simply be spectators, but active protagonists and curators of this space. Every postcard will spark a visual and human dialogue between your cherished places and the lived experiences of our community members.

The Final Exhibition

All postcards received will be displayed in an exhibition open to the public and to anyone who wishes to share this moment with us.

• Opening: During the 2026 Christmas Lunch at the Community venue.

How to Participate

• Entry: Free and open to everyone worldwide (no jury, no selection, no returns).

• Size: Postcard format 10x15 cm (~4x6 inches; choice of thickness/medium as long as it can be mailed).

• Required details: Please include your full name, postal address, and optional email/social handle on the back.

• Deadline: Postcards must be sent no later than December 10, 2026 (postmark or receipt date applies).

Mail Art at the end of the World - Germany

 

Dear all Mail-Artists,

as a Germany-based cultural anthropologist, I am interested in how Mail-Art emerged, how it reacted to upheavals in the past, and how it deals with current social change movements. I work with postcards and their role in times of social and political upheavals. Therefore, I wanted to engage with Mail-Art as both an art form and a way of commenting on current events. For me, mail-art became one of the most exciting democratizing art forms around the globe.

So, this should be somewhat of an open call to send me your postcards that thematize your experiences with mail-art and social change – be it in the past or today – until June 15th.

I will be trying to set up a on-site mail-art show with the entries or a zine, but at least there will be an online showcasing of it. Furthermore, I'd love to use your pieces for my further research on the topic and if you are eager to speak to me personally about your experiences I am happy to set up a meeting. Also feel free to reach out with any questions you might have.

This “Is everything we dump out garbage?” project organized by Kasımpaşa Oya Kayacık Child Houses Site Protection Association is open to everyone.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle

You may contribute to the efforts of recycling for a habitable world easily through small changes you can make in your daily routines. You may express your opinions thereon through an artistic production. If you wish, you may produce something new by using wastes. Are you ready to try?

1- No participation fee. No jury. Works will not be returned.

2- Racist, pornographic, gender apartheid based works will not be exhibited.

3- All works should be original.

4- The rights of publication, exhibition and use of the works shall be deemed to have been transferred to Kasımpaşa Oya Kayacık Child Houses Site Protection Association.

5- Each participant may participate with maximum two works.

6- We do not accept any liability for delays, losses or damages that may occur in mail or cargo.

Sources of strength - we live in a rather broken world, characterized by environmental destruction and pollution, climatic catastrophes and war conflicts, not to mention the personal and work-related problems that many people have to deal with. We are asking: Where do you get the strength to go through life upright despite all this? What brings you joy, what creates hope and confidence, what puts a smile on your face, what brightens your heart? Whether it is friends or family, art or music, religion or philosophy, sports or meditation, whether it is the smile of your neighbor or the chirping of birds in the morning - whatever makes you strong and powerful, let us know!

We want to focus on the positive and empowering aspects of life as we need them to survive in this world. We are curious and looking forward to receive your answer!
