Tribute to six great artists of art history

 

In the book "Le disobedient" published by Mondadori / le Contrails, writer Elisabetta Rasy tells the story of Artemisia Gentileschi, Elisabeth Vigee le Brun, Berthe Morisot, Suzanne Valadon, Charlotte Salomon, Frida Kalo. Six different women, from different period of history, of family situation, and in character. United however by talent and the will not to bend to the rules imposed by the society of their time, rules penalising and marginalising women. In the portraits that Elisabetta Rasy draws of each of them, what emerges is the strength and passion with which they fought and won hard battles to establish themselves. Despite bans, obligations, misunderstandings and prejudices. The work of these artists has forever changedthe place of the woman in the world of art.

You are kindly invited to send your work to pay tribute to these six extraordinary women and artists who, as Elisabetta Rasy writes, armed with a special quality of the soul, counter images of their fragility and counter the assaults of life.

1962-2012 – 50 YEARS of MAIL ART
in homage to RAY JOHNSON,
from the NEW YORK CORRESPONDANCE SCHOOL OF ART

From this lucky intuition of the american artists Edward M. Plunkett and Ray Johnson, that gave life to the international network more frequented of the art history (the MAIL ART), fifty years passed.
Relations, exchanges, meetings, interventions, projects etc. are alternate always in a climate of active and continuous participation, overcoming any political and ideological barrier.
This “dance” of artistic correspondence involved and still involves all the Nations. Now, these
are invited to celebrate together this important anniversary, sending a sign of renewed adherence, love and gratitude to a “School” that had been in position to join artists of all the world, in a kind of “artistic collective story”, testimony of “to make art” through the sharing, the gift and the absolute freedom.

"Feast of the history"
We are the history:
Know ourselves and know it

Since some years in Bologna and its hinterland takes place the "Feast of History" with meetings, shows, exhibitions that are placed in palaces, squares, streets, churches, cloisters, theatres, schools and public places. Here we talk about the most common historiography issues: the roots and the antecedents of our presents, the unresolved enigmas, the inheritances, the mysterys, the premises and prospective of issues tied to the environment, economy, relations, communications. There are no limit or boundaries of time. The themes that are discussed are those that form our daily life, and that approach us to our ancestors, here like in the rest of the world: music, food, sport, fashion, art, religion, politics, technology. Bologna and the centres of its territory become therefore the theatre for a series of undertakings promoted and organized by the Laboratorio Multidisciplinare di Ricerca Storica and by the Alma Mater along with many public boards and private associations. But especially thanks to the presence of the students, of every school course and of any provenance. It's them the protagonist of the events, participating in meeting with scholars of international fame, putting out the results of their researches led in collaboration with a lot of town's institution. Therefore is not just a simple parade of events, but a "feast" in its true sense, as in it participate many components of the town in a meeting between local and universal history for a better respect of the historical property and a better awarness of the great recent-events.
